1st February 2012

Dear Brother

Every year hundreds of people facing financial, healthcare or family needs are assisted by the four Masonic Charities and it is a fact, that in the twelve months to 31st December 2011, a total of £232,195 was made in grants to beneficiaries within the Province of Buckinghamshire, to assist with their various needs.

It is also a fact that sadly, not enough of us understand the work and accomplishments of the Masonic Charities, let alone how they may be able to help in time of need or crisis, I therefore intend to introduce Freemasonry Cares into our Province with immediate effect to address this problem.

Freemasonry Cares helps Freemasons, their families and other dependants access the information available to them in an easy and efficient manner, by the use of a central Freephone telephone number and a website packed full of information. It is designed to increase the awareness of all to the assistance that the Charities can provide, along with a unified message of support if needed. It aims to complement the help available from local and Provincial funds and under no circumstances does it diminish the important work of the Lodge or Provincial Almoner, it should be considered as an additional tool.

You will find a leaflet enclosed with this letter explaining the scheme, along with the contact details, please study it closely and familiarise yourself with the information. Remember, it is not only there to assist current Freemasons, but also wives, partners, dependents, Lodge widows and former Freemasons, therefore you have a responsibility to make them aware.

I sincerely hope that the occasion never arises where you require assistance from one or more of the four main Charities but if it does then remember, Freemasonry Cares.

Yours sincerely and fraternally

Gordon Robertson
