Many lodges hold their own Classes or Lodges of Instruction at which ceremonies are rehearsed and the floor-work is practised. However, a fair number do not and to cater for those members who wish to improve their ritual but have no LofI of their own, most Centres now have combined LofIs to assist them. Brethren from all Centres are welcome at any of the combined LofIs - so if you live a distance from your own Centre, you will be very welcome at a Centre more convenient to home.
The Manor Class of Masonic Instruction meeting at Bletchley has been meeting since 1967 at various venues and now meets every Wednesday in the Bletchley Masonic Hall with the exception of the weeks of Christmas and New Year. It holds an AGM, usually in September, and performs an Annual Demonstration Meeting, usually on a Friday in June. Thus, in total, they meet and perform ritual 50 times per year (though there is no ritual at the AGM).
The Class normally rehearses the three degrees in weekly rotation and offices for the following meeting are fixed at the end of each session. However, at the request of members, the Class will rehearse an Installation meeting for the benefit of Installing Masters and Masters Elect.
Meetings: Every Wednesday at 7.30pm in the Bletchley Centre
Marlow hosts the first half of the popular Summer Lodge of Instruction every Wednesday evening at 7.30 from 13th June until 11th July for Brethren working through the offices in their own Lodges. It provides an opportunity for you to practise your current or future role in a very sociable environment.
First Degree ceremonies are run every week whilst another group practises either the Second or Third Degree. To attend, simply turn up on any of the Wednesdays as you will be guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome. The 2012 season commences with a curry night at Chutneys in High Wycombe on Wednesday, 30th May at 7.30 pm – a night that promises to be an excellent evening of fun.
The programme will then run as follows:
Beaconsfield hosts the second half of the popular Summer Lodge of Instruction every Wednesday at 7.30 from 18th July to 29th August for Brethren wanting to rehearse their current or future roles as officers in their own Lodges. Just turn up on any evening and you will be warmly welcomed into the group.
The First Degree runs every week with a Second or Third degree being run as demand dictates. There is also a Chapter of Rehearsal for the Royal Arch that also runs throughout the Beaconsfield season and compliments the Craft practice sessions. Apart from the rehearsals, there is a strong social element, culminating in the Summer Multi-Lodge of Instruction Festival which is to be hosted this year by Cliveden Lodge, to be held on Wednesday 5th September. This event is an opportunity for Brethren to put their newly learned skills into practice and all are encouraged to take on an office that they are currently in at their own Lodge.
There will be an “end of season” Curry Night on 5th September, which always proves very popular and is the final wind down for the season.
The programme will run as follows:
The Slough Multi-Lodge of Instruction meets every Tuesday at the Ragstone Road Centre at 8.00 pm. Although the emphasis is on Lodge meeting procedure and floorwork, the team also arranges short orations or other interesting talks by outside speakers.
