Coming to the ‘Chair’ for the first time can seem somewhat daunting with all the ceremonies to learn and to deliver (and with everyone watching). However, there is much more to being the Master than just the ritual. These Master Elect/Warden workshops aim to help and support the incoming head of the Lodge with information on all those other roles and responsibilities that will make his year successful.
The programme for Masters Elect and Wardens is held in June and July each year and the 2012 dates and venues are below. The primary ‘target’ audience remains as Masters Elect and Wardens although others that feel they might benefit are also invited to apply.
The experienced Past Masters leading this programme present very useful information in a relaxed and informal atmosphere which makes learning enjoyable and increases confidence. We all appreciate helpful suggestions and tips (even if we don’t always take them up). This programme aims to focus on those relevant to the Master’s role.
This well established and highly acclaimed 2-part workshop covers a wide range of ideas for the planning and preparation of ‘your year’ and making it memorable for both you, your partner and your Lodge. As Master of your Lodge, you do have a highly important role in part managing your part of it. Many of the human resources and management concepts used in the ‘outside’ world can be adopted or adapted to advantage.
These Programmes could well be described as “supportive and constructive sessions for those coming into more Masonic responsibility”. Our aim is that you enjoy, not endure, your ‘year’.
This programme does not deal with ‘ritual’ or attempt to standardise the way a particular Lodge works; it does, however, cover all the other aspects that will enrich the Master’s year and also harnesses the enthusiasm of a new Master towards the challenges facing Freemasonry today.
