Personal Details

Mike was born on 1 October 1947 and married Shirley in 1975. They have three children, Gary, Emma and Steven, a daughter in law, Rosanna and a grandson, Samuel.   They enjoy spending time with their family, gardening and attending social events.

Career Details

Mike trained as an industrial chemist at a fuel additive research laboratory and studied for a degree level scientific qualification, also becoming a Licentiate of the Royal Society of Chemistry.  Whilst working with hazardous and highly flammable materials Mike became interested in fire and safety and gained experience in this area as a retained fireman with Buckinghamshire Fire Brigade.  He went on to become Fire and Safety Manager of the research facility, studying for a further two years to become a qualified Safety Practitioner.  Later his responsibilities extended to security, finance, purchasing and stock management. In 1998, after 32 years service with the same company, Mike left to manage a fire and safety training and consultancy business and in 2006 became Operations Director of a newly formed consultancy practice in the Milton Keynes area.

  • Initiated into Brickhill Lodge No. 6968 in April 1975, Worshipful Master in 1987.
  • Founder member of Longueville Lodge No. 9322 in 1989, Worshipful Master in 1995
  • Joined Bucks Masters Lodge in 1992.
  • First Appointment to Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies in 1993 and continuing in 1994.
  • Promotion to Provincial Junior Grand Warden in 1998
  • Promotion to Assistant Provincial Grand Master in 2007
  • Appointed Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in 2002
  • Promoted to Past Senior Grand Deacon in 2008

  • Exalted into Manor of Swanburn Chapter No. 8647 in 1992, MEZ in 2000
  • Joined Bucks First Principals Chapter in 2005.
  • Appointed Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies in 2004 and continuing in 2005
  • Promotion to Past Provincial Grand Registrar in 2006
