Combined Classes of Instruction 2018

Throughout the Masonic year, many educational opportunities for the junior, and rising Mason exist.

A fair number or lodges are not able or do not have the support readily available to cater for those members who wish to improve their ritual. To aid in your education, most Centres now have combined LOIs to assist them.  Brethren from all Centres are welcome at any of the combined LOIs, so if you live a distance from your own Centre, you will be very welcome at a Centre more convenient to home.

The Provincial Executive backs the Summer Lodge of Instruction because it works!

Beaconsfield and Marlow

The most popular Masonic nights for us are the highly popular LOI's at the Marlow Masonic Centre and the Beaconsfield Masonic Centre which are held in the summers on Wednesday evenings at 7.30 pm in June, July and August.

For Beaconsfield and Marlow based Brethren….and all those willing to travel to these Centres over the summer.

Your Summer LoI was set up, and has been successfully running for over 10 years, for those of you that may have just joined Freemasonry or are now advancing through the progressive offices.

Not only does Summer LoI provide you with a platform to learn new ritual or floor work it also gives you the opportunity to make new friends, have a laugh and extend your Masonic network.

Your Summer LOI is here for you, if there is something you would like to practice, or need help with, let us know and we will endeavour to help with anything from ritual to presentation skills.

Please do not feel that you need to know the ritual before joining us as most, if not all, start with open book and slowly and steadily learn as the summer season progresses. You can also sit on the side line and watch what goes on so that the ceremonies become clearer.

On the nights of LoI there are breaks for discussion to clarify any points that are unclear or to discuss differences in workings such as Taylors, Universal, etc.

The summer season starts with a Curry Night at Chutneys in High Wycombe, as usual, where Brethren joining the summer sessions enjoy each other's fellowship in a relaxed social atmosphere.

Finally, the summer season will close with a Curry Night at the Basmati in Beaconsfield, where once again the Brethren who supported each other over the summer can enjoy each other’s company while reminiscing about what they have learned over summer.

At the end of the summer the SLoI have an opportunity to demonstrate its new found skills and preform a first degree ceremony in an open Lodge.

To be consistent, the classes conform to Emulation Working and include the following:

  • Open the Lodge in the relevant Degree(s).
  • Learn and perfect the 1st degree
  • If the number of attendees allow learn the two remaining degrees
  • Close the Lodge in the relevant Degree(s).

Bletchley

The Manor Class of Masonic Instruction meeting at Bletchley has been meeting since 1967 at various venues and now meets every Wednesday in the Bletchley Masonic Hall with the exception of the weeks of Christmas and New Year. It holds an AGM, usually in September, and performs an Annual Demonstration Meeting, usually on a Friday in June. In total, they therefore meet and perform ritual 50 times per year (though there is no ritual at the AGM).

The Class normally rehearses the three degrees in weekly rotation and offices for the following meeting are fixed at the end of each session. However, at the request of members, the Class will rehearse an Installation meeting for the benefit of Installing Masters and Masters Elect.

Meetings: Every Wednesday at 7.30pm in the Bletchley Centre

Slough

The Slough Multi-Lodge of Instruction meets every Tuesday at the Ragstone Road Centre at 8.00 pm.  Although the emphasis is on Lodge meeting procedure and floorwork, the team also arranges short orations or other interesting talks by outside speakers.

Meetings:  Every Tuesday at 8.00 pm in the Slough Centre
