The first leg of the competition for the Rose Bowl trophy.
This match was held at High Wycombe B.C. on a warm afternoon with sunny spells interspersed with grey cloud cover. The Association's flag flew proudly over the clubhouse. All enjoyed a rain free match of four rinks and one triple. At half time the Bucks team had only 5 shots fewer than Berks but Berks drew ahead after the break for tea and eventually won by 21 shots: 89 - 110. Bucks won on 2 rinks and lost on 3. Our highest winning rink was Chris Tumbridge, David Lord, John Mansfield and Bill Fuller.
This difference in shots is now carried forward to the return fixture, which will be indoors at Newbury.
Ken Tucker predicted the winning margin and so won the first of the M&S voucher prizes - the competition raised £35 for the President's charity. One of Margaret Hearn's cakes was auctioned for £10. A raffle raised £38 and the catering team won 3 of the prizes! Presidents Alan Brindle and Tony Burrell thanked High Wycombe for the warm welcome extended to both teams and for the most tasty meal following the match.
