Beaconsfield Adult Carers Christmas Lunch

On Sunday 25th November 2018 at the Beaconsfield Masonic Centre, a Christmas lunch was arranged by the Beaconsfield Committee for Freemasonry in the Community.

At the luncheon in attendance were 60 family carers who belong to CarersBucks and provide unpaid support and care on a regular basis to a relative or friend who, due to frailty, illness or disability, could not manage on their own.

Our PGM Rt W Bro John Clark along with his wife Sarah, V W Bro Hugh Douglas–Smith and Renata attended from the Province with Stephen Archibald CEO of CarersBucks, his partner Helen, Beth and Ella of CarersBucks. John welcomed our guests and Stephen suitably replied thanking Bucks Masons for their generosity and hospitality

The guests were treated to a three-course lunch followed by coffee and mince pies. During the meal everyone took part in Bingo, Heads and Tails, a table quiz and best of all was pass the parcel, which brought back many childhood memories, then followed a free raffle with the main prize being a beautifully decorated Christmas cake made and donated by Helen Matthews. It was then time for entertained by singer Kevin Taylor, who soon had them up dancing and singing along. When the carers left with goody bags, their thanks made it very emotional with comments that tugged at the heartstrings.

The committee led by Steve Matthews along with Barry Sparks, Rob Knock, Tony Dyckes, Andy Barr, Sean Boardman and Andy Sutton and some of their wives, assisted by members from Cestreham Lodge who waited on the tables, members of Beaconsfield Masonic Ladies Cub our meeters and greeters, without all of these and the Beaconsfield units donations to supplement monies from the Province the day would not have been possible. It was agreed that this is a big part of what we all joined masonry for
