And I would walk 500 miles ... for charity

Since the 1st July 2019, Dave Harfield has walked over 500 miles, taking more than a million steps in order to raise £875 (and counting) for Diabetes UK as part of their One million step summer challenge https://step.diabetes.org.uk/

Having achieved and exceeded this initial goal, he is aiming to complete 1,500,000 steps by walking more than 750 miles, and to raise >£1,000 by the end of this challenge on the 30th of September 2019.
Dave’s statistics are as of 31/08/19:
Taken 1,128,345 steps
Walked 518 miles (833 Km)
Raised £876.18p for Diabetes UK
Lost more than 1 Stone (>6.3 Kgs) in weight

In order to achieve this feat and in addition to normal day-to-day activity, Dave takes time out to walk a 5 mile course around his estate and local business park, which he normally completes in a little over an hour. This he advises, gives him the opportunity to reflect on the day’s events, and issues and help decompress from the stresses of a busy and challenging work schedule as a Safety Auditor for QinetiQ Ltd.
Dave is a Freemason, and currently Treasurer of Beaconsfield Lodge #2849. Other individuals connected with this Lodge participating in the 1 million step challenge are Wendy Harfield widow of Kevin Harfield a recent Master, and Val Jones wife of the Secretary Rick Jones.
