A group of children from the Milton Keynes area had an enjoyable time recently while taking part in tennis coaching sessions helped by a grant from the BMCF (Bucks Masonic Centenary Fund) which provided £140 for two buckets of tennis balls.
The sessions, for children between the ages of 6 and 10, were run by MK Inclusive Tennis and had a particularly important purpose. All the children involved are diabetic and the course aimed to show them how exercise can help regulate insulin levels and increase sensitivity to it. Blood sugar levels were checked before, during and after lessons to illustrate they were under control.
The children enjoyed the lessons in a safe and friendly environment with an instructor who has the same condition.
Emma Maitland, The Development Manager at MK Inclusive Tennis thanked the BMCF for the donation which allowed the course to go ahead.
