The Society visited Weston Turville 0n 19th August to hold the annual competition for the Grenville Trophy.
Following the traditional bacon roll and coffee 22 of the members sallied forth to compete for the trophy on a super sunny day.
Paul Savage managed to win beating 2 other players by 1 point.
We were privileged that our President Mike Powell was able to join us on the course. Mike’s health prevented him from playing but astride his buggy, he wandered the course encouraging and assisting the players, it was terrific to have Mike join us.
After a great day on the golf course, followed by a soothing beverage we enjoyed a meal and convivial company.
After the usual prize giving and raffle, Stan Green thanked all for a very successful day and was looking forward to the last competition of 2019, this being his final year as Captain.
Our last competition of 2019 is on the 24th of September the “Bucks Open & Scratch Trophy” held in Aylesbury Vale.
Attendance will be open to all members of the Society and any guests at all of our venues.
This last competition will include our AGM after dinner and with our 50th year coming in 2020, we shall have much to discuss. We hope that as many members who can attend will be present to have their views and suggestions considered.
Our Captain Stan Green sends you all his best wishes and looks forward to enjoying your company on the golf course and to continue our charitable efforts throughout the year.
We shall be holding a presentation Sunday Lunch at Chiltern Heights on 27th October and is open to all members and their guests not only those who will be in receipt of a trophy.
Please contact Brian Shepherd if you wish to attend.
