TLC Programme

What is the Teddies for Loving Care Programme?

TEDDIES FOR LOVING CARE (TLC) TLC is a Masonic Charity started in 2001 by a Freemason from Essex, to supply teddy bears to sick and distressed children attending A&E units in hospitals.

From these humble beginnings, the idea mushroomed and now there are TLC operations in most Masonic Provinces. In Buckinghamshire, TLC was started in about 2003. We supply teddy bears to A&E units at Milton Keynes, Stoke Mandeville and Wexham Park Hospitals as well as The Florence Nightingale Hospice.

We are also in discussions with other facilities. In the past year, we have supplied over 2500 teddy bears to these units, resulting in 2500 sick children benefitting. The nurses also use the teddy bears to act as demonstration dummies to explain to the children the procedures that they may be undergoing thus making their work easier. This is an ongoing Charity needing funds every year to keep on supplying the teddy bears. Since its inception nationwide, more than 1.25 million teddy bears have been donated by Freemasons.
