Slough Council for Voluntary Service (SCVS) held its annual awards ceremony on 20th November at the Windsor Marriott Hotel.
Slough Freemasons, as part of their Freemasonry in the Community programme, are proud supporters of the event and Gary Mason, of Herschel Lodge 1894, represented the centre on the awards panel this year.
The Voluntary Sector Awards celebrate the achievements of local voluntary and community groups in Slough. These Groups make a huge contribution to the community and are an important part to what the government terms ‘Civil Society’.
Gary said: “Apart from the splendid ceremony itself, with the many deserving winners and highly commended individuals and groups, one of the highlights was the local Air Force Cadet Band who took part in the opening ceremony. They played a medley of old favourite such as: pack up your troubles in your old kit bag and the Dambusters theme. The 250 guests all stood up through the entire set and when they marched out the applause was amazing. It was a big day for the Slough CVS and representing our fraternity at this event again this year was a great privilege.”
