John Waller & Martin Robinson of St Giles No. 8555 Lodge based in Bletchley walked the route of Hadrian’s Wall.
Coast to Coast from Newcastle to Bowness on Solway, in 6 six days a distance of almost 100 miles. The walk was made in 2 parts of 3 days. The first part of the walk was from the 3rdto the 5thof June. On day 3 both John & Martin were suffering from bad blisters and in John’s case, a pulled leg muscle. This led to them having to stop the walk and return home in very low spirits. Part of the problem was that they were carrying Bergans weighing over 24 pounds each over the rough terrain.
On the 14thof July, they resumed their walk this time completing it on the 17thof July. This time they had their Bergans transported which made of an easier and faster walk. They arrived at Bowness on the 17thof July, again with some nasty blisters but feeling happy that they had completed the journey which at times seemed impossible.
The walk was in aid of MK Act http://www.mkact.com/which is this year’s Masters Charity for St Giles. MK Act is a charity dealing with Domestic Violence Intervention services in Milton Keynes.
To date almost £600 has been raised by the walk, further donations can be made on our Just Giving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/john-martin8555
